Dominican Puddings/Sweet Dishes:

  • Biscocho -- Domincan term for cake

  • Arroz Doce -- Sweet rice pudding made with milk

  • Flan -- Almost ubiquitous Hispanic desssert , a type of egg custard

  • Habichuelas Con Dulce -- A sweet pudding made with beans

  • Suspiro -- Literally means a 'breath' but actually in dessert terms -- meringue

  • Champola -- A kind of rick milkshake made with evaporated milk and fruit pulp

  • Dulce de Leche -- an intensely seet milk pudding

  • Bunuelos -- Dominican donuts/doughnuts! Served with sugar and cinammon

Dominican Beverages:

  • Batida -- Milkshake

  • Mabi -- A fizzy drink made from bark and fruit extracts

  • Mamajuana -- The 'infamous' Domincan cure-all and tonic sometimes described as 'liquid viagra'... Read more about Mamajuana onsite here

  • Medio pollo -- Literrally 'half a chicken' -- but in fact a term for coffee with milk!

  • Morir soñando -- "To die dreaming" a rich combination of condensed milk and orange juice

  • Té de Jengibre -- Ginger tea
